Lenten Station Mass 2010

Tuesday 9th March, 7pm, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Burry Port.  Bishop Thomas Matthew will be celebrating the annual Lenten Station Mass in Burry Port this year and it is an opportunity to gather with our Bishop to celebrate the Mass together. 

Please remember in your prayers Michael Stagg who died recently.  His funeral will be on Thursday 11th March at 2.30 in the Llanelli Crematorium.  May he Rest In Peace.

Cafod Lenten Fast Day: the Fast Day Collection is on Sunday 7th March.  Envelopes are available for those who wish to gift aid their donations.

Stations of the Cross:  Fridays of Lent at 7pm; a chance to remember our Lord’s suffering on the way to the cross.

Lent Lunch for Cafod:  Tuesday 16th March, 12-2pm in the Church Hall.  Come and join us for a Lenten lunch of Soup, Bread and Cheese.  The tickets are £3 and the money goes to Cafod.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP):  their next meeting will be on Wednesday 10th March at 10.30 in the Church Hall.  New members always welcome.

Day of Recollection Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and for Readers: Saturday13th March in Holy Cross Church, Gendros, 10.30 – 3pm.  Details on poster in the porch. 

APF Red Boxes:  It’s time to empty the red boxes again.  Could holders please bring them into the sacristy (do NOT leave them in the porch).  Could promoters collect their packs from the sacristy.  If you would like to have a mission box please call Sue (752038)

Please remember in your prayers all those who are sick at home or in hospital.

The after-Mass coffee and biscuits this Sunday will be hosted by the Youth to Lourdes to raise funds to enable them to accompany the sick on the pilgrimage to Lourdes.  Please do come and join us for a cuppa,  and a chance to meet people.

 

St. Mary’s School News:  The school was a sea of red on Monday as we celebrated St. David’s Day.  The Juniors performed their St David’s Day concert with the children dancing, singing and acting.  Those attending the concert thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

On Thursday we acknowledged ‘Fair-trade Fortnight’ and the School Council sold fair-trade biscuits and squash during break time.

On Friday we took part in World Book Day with book swaps, and book reviews.  Each child received a £1 voucher to use towards a book of their choice.
